CFA® Program Curriculum

  • The CFA® Program curriculum is drawn from a broad Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) that reflects the investment professions' current theory & practice with emphasis on asset valuation & portfolio management. The CFA Program is divided into three levels, each of which builds on the preceding one and concludes with a full-day (six hours) examination. Candidates must pass one examination before advancing to the next higher level, but may repeat an examination if they fail to pass.

CFA® Program Fees

  • Chartered Financial Analyst Levels I, II, & 111 : The candidates are required to pay a onetime enrollment fee of $420 - $505. For each level (I, II & III), the examination fee is $650 - $1005. The earlier the candidate enrolls, the lower is the fee. Considering the above figures, the average fee for the program works out to be around $3000 (Rs. 1,70,000). CFA Level I

CFA® Level I exam tests the basic understanding of the concepts and their application in form of multiple choice questions. The level I exam consists of two sessions each of 3 hrs. There are 120 multiple choice questions in each of the sessions and there is no negative marking for any wrong answer.

CFA Level II

Level II consists of item set questions. There will be two papers each of  60 questions and 3 hours. However these 60 questions will be set up in terms of 10 caselets each having 6 questions. The candidate will have to analyze each caselet (about one and half page in length) and answer a group of 6 questions per caselet. The questions will be multiple choice type.

CFA Level III

CFA Level III exam is 50% subjective and 50% objective (case based questions like level II). It has been the case that the candidate scoring good marks in subjective paper generally clears the exam comfortably. Pass percentage candidates is slightly higher for Level III exam which is around 50% while it stays around 40% level for Level I and Level II exam. Students will be provided with enough practice in classroom itself for the subjective part. Cases would be discussed in each class.
